Agni Cottage is a charming one-bedroom cottage set right on the beach and is ideal for couples. It has been described as a “first class water-side retreat” and “one of the most scenic sanctuaries along the most desirable coastal parts of Southern Europe” (Daily Express April 27th 2002) and “ The best and no mistake….one of the most perfect spots on Corfu” (The Sunday Times January 19th 2003).
The cottage has been in Harry’s family for over a century and was lovingly restored by Harry and Louise several years ago. Built in 1898 it is set right on Agni beach, and was the original kafenion that served the old olive press, now Toula’s Taverna.
Agni Bay lies at the end of a winding lane and is set against a hillside of oleander, olives and cypress trees. It is a popular bay for boating and yachting enthusiasts, who drop anchor to eat at one of its three famous, long established tavernas, Taverna Nikolas, Taverna Toula and Taverna Agni. Agni now has a forth taverna “Korina’s” which opened in 2005. The cottage’s private covered terrace, furnished with a hammock and bamboo chairs, allows you to simply relax and watch the world go by.
The location is also ideal for walkers as you can pick up a coastal path to bays including Krouzeri, Kaminaki to the South and Kalami, Kouloura and Kerasia to the North. Above Agni bay, perched on the ridge of a hill is the village of Loustri, which has a traditional bakery selling bread and other essentials daily. Small boats can also be hired to explore the coves and bays along this enchanting coastline.
